Catch a Pocket Bishoujo :: Catch a Pocket Bishónen The Forest Gym Reserve Team 12 Bishoujo, 10 Bishónen The main character of probably the coolest spoof anime ever, A-ko is super fast, super strong, and always gets into the strangest predicaments. She's usually a schoolgirl, but my favorite is the alternate universe of Grey Battle and Blue Battle. As the evil dudes said: "Just what do you think you're doing?" "Uh, I think they're fighting to the death." B-ko never gets a break. She's smart, rich, yet little C-ko still isn't her friend! She's an amusing foil for A-ko, but I remember her mostly for Grey Battle and Blue Battle, when she fell in with the bad guy. Some of the best anime angst I've seen, even though the whole series is a spoof. Shin is not your typical feminized member of a five-man team. He may not be the strongest, but that may be because of all the Troopers he is least ruled by his armor-- an important point when the armor begins to take over their lives. He loves the sea, and in his family is the hardworking, cultured man of the house... yet he loosens up with the other guys, often teasing and joking with Shuu. Plus, most people haven't seen how well he throws a punch ^^. That's Washu-chan to you! Audacious, loud-mouthed, and brilliant, Washu has probably blown up several alternate universes by now. Sometimes she's got as much sense as height, but she's no-nonsense in an all-nonsense household. Ah, Angewomon. Not only is she a giant angel chick, she's also got a deadly finger! With her lovely blond hair and snazzy outfit, she's more than a match for Angemon. Heh heh. Of course, the cat in her makes for a snappy attitude. Angemon bothers me, you know. What are those strange thingies on his chest?? I don't get that. But hey, anyone with hair like that, and Patamon's big beady eyes (he's got them, trust me) is a cool dude in my book. And of course, we can't have TK without Angemon! He's probably the most powerful of all the Ultimates, and has gone up against some of the most powerful villains in the series. He's quite a mon. =P Noin, Jr.! If anyone could be a match for the God of Death, this gal is it. She's up-front, spunky, loyal and a damn good one to have at your back. That interrogation scene with Duo was a sharp reminder of the consequences of the twisted political scene, not to mention a real nail-biter. She holds her own equally well in mobile suit battles and cooped up for long periods with Duo Maxwell. Hayami is a loner who's given up on a world submerged by the ocean. But he's drawn into the final strike against the man who drowned the world, and witnesses firsthand the lives changed by constant battle. Tough, stubborn, yet often he is struck by moments of wonder and understanding. It is his hand that will decide the fate of humans in a world of endless blue... Primal. Fierce. Passionate. The true flame of the forest, San was raised by the Wolf Clan and battles to keep it safe. Within the beauty of Mononoke's world she runs fast and vibrant, like a stream, like a fire, like the blood of the forest itself... My 60th Bishounen catch! Cursed by a demonic presence, Ashitaka leaves his village in search of a cure... and stumbles into the middle of a battle between pioneering humans and the spirits of the forest. Open-minded and brave, he is a warrior unlike no other, choosing no sides but protecting all those around him. And in the midst of chaos comes the girl raised by wolves who could be his salvation... Strong, silent, Trowa's only identity is as a soldier... until the people he meets in the war help redefine his sense of self. At once coldly practical and deeply compassionate, as agile with his body as with his quiet words, Trowa is a perfect shot, a tamer of beasts, a guerrilla, a brother, a clown who never smiles... a flourish of masks. My 100th catch overall! Catherine Bloom is pretty normal, for a knife-throwing circus performer. She's got a life of her own, and she hates the war for threatening it. She gets flack for her protectiveness of Trowa, her tendency to go about in her underwear, and her sheer domesticity in a time of war, but hey, she's a carnie. The circus is her family. She defends it with the same zeal as any soldier. Ah, Ken... one of the fabulously deadly Weiß boys. He's probably one of the most *normal* bishounen in existence. He has angst, sure, what Weiß boy doesn't, but he's also a people person, loves kids, is obsessed with soccer, and generally does a great next-door-neighbor impression. Don't let it fool you, though... this tiger has claws. The sleeping beauty of Weiß, Aya-chan is the proverbial pure, innocent flower, the reason her brother goes on fighting. She... um... doesn't do much? But somehow her being in a coma doesn't stop her from taking over Ran's soul. ^^ She's a bright, happy personality in an otherwise dark show. Don't pass out on Yohji's bed. You might wake up with your sister's name. ^.^ No, actually Aya-kun is a walking (though not really talking) angst shot. He lives for revenge, and for the hope that his sister will wake from her coma. From his crimson hair, his cold amethyst eyes, and his terrifying taste in clothes, Aya is a striking individual. Don't diss the earring, though, or you'll find yourself on the wrong end of a katana. I was so impressed with this gal... she discovers stone monsters who administer sunset-to-sunrise justice, and she goes with the flow. I guess she's a good New York cop ^^. Elisa is a fantastic character; this Beauty packs heat! Yeah, she's Chinese. Get over it ^^. Sally is one tough cookie... she impresses the Maguanacs! Her second voice actress is much better in the Ocean Group dub. She sticks to butch military outfits (unlike Noin's weird fashion statements.) She's a tomboy grown up, and she gets to battle for peace too. Pilot 05 is not your typical anime fifth wheel. He isn't very good at first impressions; a great many gals were probably turned off by his first scenes in Gundam Wing. And honestly some of the angst he goes through is self-inflicted. However, once you get to know him, his tragic story sheds light on a world where justice is not just a word, but comes in the form of dragonfire... The fierce, doomed wife of Chang Wufei. She took on marriage, the protection of her colony, and death at a heartbreakingly young age. Much has been made of her abrasive relationship with Wufei, but in the end... her memory lives on... Mimi! She's pink, she's ditzy, she's always stylin'! Though this girl speaks in smiley faces, I've come to appreciate her forthright manner. She's become the big sister figure for the younger Digidestined, and has really learned to wield her authority. Plus, she's dyed her hair pink, and currently is going through a Macy Gray hippie phase... and she always looks *good*! Yamato Ishida. No autographs, please. He's a chibi version of every blond, light-eyed bishounen anime angst-magnet. He doesn't get close to anyone except for his little brother Takeru, whom he's fiercely protective of. He does loosen up when he's older, capitalizing on his good looks and his musical ability to join a band and play the pretty boy. Oh, and he's good friends with Taichi ~_^. Taichi Kamiya (or Yagami, depending on where you live.) Literally, the 'thick one'. That goes for his brains as well as his hair. Still, the boy is enthusiastic, and a good leader. And he's much better the older he gets-- he loses the goggles, thank goodness. Oh yeah, he likes to fight with Matt / Yamato ::cough, cough::. Forest Gym.
